Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali is confident his side can win the World Cup in England and Wales later this year, especially since they won the Champions Trophy back in 2017.

The Champions Trophy was held in England and Pakistan put on an excellent performance throughout the tournament to win the tournament for the first time.

In fact, Hasan was named Player of the Tournament for taking 13 wickets in five matches at an average of 14.69.

The 24-year-old also has a good reason to be brimming with confidence ahead of the quadrennial competition as he topped the list for the most wickets in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he claimed 25 victims in 13 games for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 13.64 and economy rate of 6.77.

Prior to the start of the World Cup, Pakistan will also play a one-off Twenty20 International and five ODIs against England from May 5 to 19.

“We have ample experience of playing in England and that will prove beneficial at the World Cup,” he told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “We also have a series there before the mega event, so we will hopefully be prepared adequately for the mega event.”

Pakistan, whose only World Cup triumph came under the captaincy of their current Prime Minister Imran Khan in 1992, will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
