Pakistan pace bowler Hasan Ali firmly believes that Shaheen Shah Afridi will be “one of our trump cards” at the World Cup in England and Wales later this year.
Afridi was one of the standout performers during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa earlier this year as he took nine wickets in two Tests at an average of 26.66.
He followed that up with six wickets in four ODIs at an average of 23.16 and two wickets in two Twenty20 Internationals at an average of 25.
The 18-year-old has continued to excel in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has claimed 10 wickets in eight games for the Lahore Qalandars at an average of 23.90.
“He is young, he is learning, but already he has a wise head on young shoulders,” Hasan was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “He has been a brilliant find for Pakistan cricket and he could be one of our trump cards at the World Cup.
“When you are a young cricketer you are fearless, and you don’t have any baggage and that can only be a good thing because you are not afraid of trying new things and you don’t worry about what can go wrong. He’s an excellent team-mate and a guy who I really enjoy bowling alongside.”
