Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal is hoping to regain his spot in the national team by putting up a string of strong performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Akmal, who is playing for the Quetta Gladiators, has not played Test cricket since 2011, while his last ODI and Twenty20 International came in 2017 and 2016 respectively.
In his first three games for the Gladiators, which came against Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and the Multan Sultans, Akmal has scored 75 not out, 44 and an unbeaten 17.
“I want to continue performing well in the rest of the games for Quetta so I can make a comeback into the national team as soon as possible,” Akmal was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.
Akmal will once again be in action when the Gladiators take on the Lahore Qalandars on Saturday.
