Pat Cummins took a career-best six-wicket haul as Australia annihilated Sri Lanka by an innings and 40 runs on the third day of the first Test in Brisbane.
Starting off the day on 17/1, Sri Lanka were unable to add any runs to their overnight score when captain Dinesh Chandimal was caught by debtuant Kurtis Patterson at gully off the bowling of Cummins for a duck.

Kusal Mendis only made one run before he was caught by Joe Burns at second slip off the bowling of Cummins.
Roshen Silva failed to have an impact as well as he suffered the same fate as Mendis after scoring three runs.
Dhananjaya de Silva mustered 14 runs before he was cleaned up by debutant Jhye Richardson.

Lahiru Thirimanne, who opened the batting, fought hard for his 32 before he was caught behind off the bowling of Cummins.
Richardson then took out wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella for 24, while Cummins claimed his sixth wicket upon dismissing Dilruwan Perera for nine.

With Suranga Lakmal being stumped by Australia skipper Tim Paine off the bowling of Nathan Lyon and Lahiru Kumara not being able to bat due to a hamstring injury, Sri Lanka were skittled out for 139.
Cummins was the pick of the bowlers with six wickets, while Richardson took two and Lyon chipped in with one.
Cummins was named Man of the Match.
