Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq could double up as the national team’s batting coach as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are allegedly dissatisfied with Grant Flower’s performance.
Flower currently serves as Pakistan’s batting coach, but with the national team having posted a number of subpar totals with the bat during their ongoing tour of South Africa, a source inside the PCB revealed that Inzamam could take over or be drafted in as a consultant since the 2019 World Cup is right around the corner.
“He has already got involved with the team in South Africa and is attending their nets,” the source was quoted as saying by India Today. “Inzamam could be the next batting coach/consultant of the team before the World Cup as the board is not satisfied with the performance of batting coach Grant Flower, who has been with the team since the last World Cup.”
Pakistan were whitewashed 3-0 in the Test series against South Africa, but are level at 1-1 in the ongoing five-match ODI series.
