Callum Ferguson walloped an unbeaten 113 as the Sydney Thunder took down the Perth Scorchers by six wickets at the Perth Stadium.

Choosing to bowl first, the Thunder got an early breakthrough as Scorchers opener Cameron Bancroft was trapped lbw off the bowling of Nathan McAndrew for eight runs.

Captain Mitchell Marsh and his brother Shaun made up for the loss of Bancroft with a 58-run partnership before Mitchell was dismissed by Chris Green for 31.

Ashton Turner fell shortly after, while Hilton Cartwright was trapped lbw off the bowling of Gurinder Sandhu for 20.

Shaun Marsh and Nick Hobson ensured the Scorchers finished on a high as they forged an unbeaten 60-run stand.

Marsh ended up making a 55-ball 96, which included five boundaries and five sixes, as the Scorchers made 181/4 off their 20 overs.

Green was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Sandhu and McAndrew chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 182 to win, the Thunder lost captain Shane Watson early on as he was caught by Andrew Tye at mid-off off the bowling of Jason Behrendorff for eight runs.

Ferguson and debutant Matthew Gilkes steadied thing with a 120-run partnership, during which both batsmen registered their half-centuries.

Gilkes ended up making a 38-ball 51, which included four boundaries and three sixes, before he was removed by Tye.

Anton Devcich and Daniel Sams fell soon after, but Ferguson got the Thunder across the finish line with his unbeaten knock of 113, which came off 53 balls and included eight boundaries and eight sixes.

Behrendorff, Tye, Usman Qadir and Matthew Kelly claimed one wicket each.

Ferguson was named Man of the Match.
