Cameron Bancroft walloped an unbeaten 87 as the Perth Scorchers waltzed past the Sydney Sixers by seven wickets at the Perth Stadium.

Being put in to bat first, the Sixers got off to a solid start before Jack Edwards was caught by Cameron Green at mid-off off the bowling of Matthew Kelly for 17.

Daniel Hughes, who opened the batting with Edwards, managed to score a quickfire 36 before he was caught and bowled by Usman Qadir.

James Vince fell after scoring 28, while captain Moises Henriques smashed a 21-ball 38 before he was caught and bowled by Andrew Tye.

Jordan Silk mustered 13 runs before becoming Tye’s second victim.

With Josh Philippe and Tom Curran scoring 19 and 12 respectively, the Sixers finished on 177/5 off their 20 overs.

Kelly and Tye picked up two wickets apiece, while Qadir chipped in with one.

Chasing 178 to win, the Scorches lost Michael Klinger early on as he was dismissed by Ben Dwarshuis for two runs.

Bancroft and Sam Whiteman made up for the loss of Klinger with a 50-run partnership before Whiteman was caught by Sean Abbott at long-on off the bowling of Benjamin Manenti for 22.

Bancroft and captain Ashton Turner kept the runs flowing with a 98-run stand, during which both batsmen cruised past their fifties, before Turner was removed by Abbott for a 30-ball 60, which included four boundaries and three sixes.

Despite the loss of Turner, Bancroft led the Scorchers to victory with seven balls to spare as a result of his unbeaten knock of 87, which came off 61 balls and included eight boundaries and a six.

Dwarshuis, Manenti and Abbott claimed one wicket each.

Bancroft was named Man of the Match.
