Haris Sohail and Babar Azam scored career-bests of 147 and 127 not out as Pakistan continued to torment New Zealand on the second day in Dubai.

Starting off the day on 207/4, Sohail and Azam converted their 33-run partnership into a 186-run stand, during which Sohail surpassed his century and Azam was one run away from bringing up his hundred.

Despite throwing everything they had at the duo, New Zealand were unable to get the breakthrough they were looking for.

Ultimately, it was Sohail who fell as he was caught behind off the bowling of Trent Boult for 147, which came off 421 balls and included 13 boundaries.

Azam and captain Sarfraz Ahmed kept the runs flowing with an unbeaten 58-run partnership, during which Azam brought up his century, before Pakistan declared on 418/5.

Trailing by 418, New Zealand openers Jeet Raval and Tom Latham amassed an unbeaten 24-run partnership before bad light brought play to an end for the day.

Raval finished on 17, which came off 31 balls and included three boundaries, while Latham remained undefeated on five, which came off 23 deliveries and included a boundary.

New Zealand ended day two on 24/0 and will continue batting on Monday at 10:00 local time or 06:00 GMT.
