After making his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with the Delhi Daredevils 11 years ago, India opener Shikhar Dhawan could be headed back to his old franchise after the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Daredevils are understood to have agreed on a trade.
It is believed that Dhawan will return to the Daredevils, who will send Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Abhishek Sharma to the Sunrisers.
The Sunrisers opted not to retain Dhawan ahead of the last IPL auction, but managed to regain his services for INR 5.2 crore.
There has been rumours that Dhawan was less than pleased with the price he attracted at the auction, which resulted in the Sunrisers pursuing a trade to unload him to another franchise.
With the Daredevils having paid INR 3.2 crore for Shankar, INR 3.2 crore for Nadeem and INR 55 lakhs for Sharma, which brings the total to INR 6.95 crore, the Sunrisers will have to pay the remaining balance if the alleged trade is to go ahead.
Dhawan played a crucial role in leading the Sunrisers to the IPL final this year as he scored 497 runs in 16 matches, which included four half-centuries, at an average of 38.23.
