South Africa all-rounder Willem Mulder will miss the rest of the ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe after injuring his ankle.
Mulder sustained the injury, which is believed to concern his left Achilles tendon, during a practice session on Tuesday.
He will now undergo further assessments before a course of action is decided upon.
“Wiaan felt some pain and discomfort in his left ankle at practice and has been withdrawn from the remainder of the ODI series,” South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. “He will be assessed by an ankle and foot specialist in Johannesburg, who will be able to further assess the injury and give us a way forward in terms of the treatment and rehab strategy. The selectors will not name a replacement for the last ODI.”
In the first ODI against Zimbabwe in Kimberley, the 20-year-old finished with figures of 1-19 off six overs and also scored an unbeaten 14.
