South Africa’s convener of selectors Linda Zondi has confirmed that all-rounder Chris Morris is still among the players being considered for next year’s World Cup in England and Wales.

Morris has not played for the Proteas since February this year as he sustained a back injury while taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in April.

Now that he is back to full fitness, he will get some much-needed match practice when the Titans begin their Sunfoil Series campaign against the Dolphins on September 26.

Zondi admitted that Morris was not considered for selection for the upcoming limited overs series against Zimbabwe since he has not played any competitive cricket as of late.

“We didn’t consider including him at all. We want him to get through some games and find some form,” Zondi told Sport24. “His fitness is back on track and I’m so pleased about that.

“He is still very much part of our plans going into the World Cup.”
