Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has called for pace bowler Stuart Broad to be dropped for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka in November.
Broad is coming off a fairly strong showing in the recently concluded five-Test series against India, where he took 16 wickets at an average of 29.68.
Despite this, Pietersen pointed out that Broad struggles to have much of an impact overseas, and believes that England would be wise to pick someone else to take his spot in the Test team.
“I would have dropped him last winter,” Pietersen told talkSPORT. “He doesn’t perform that well away from home.
“He had one good Ashes series and what he delivered for England in the big Ashes series last year was hopeless. I’ve been on tours of the sub-continent, he doesn’t like touring the sub-continent so it wouldn’t surprise me and it would be a very good move if they dropped him.”
England’s Test series against Sri Lanka begins on November 6 in Galle.
