Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has insisted that everyone still has a chance to regain their spot in the national team.

Sarfraz’s comments come after wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal and former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt voiced their anger towards not being selected in the Pakistan team.

Both Akmal and Butt, who have not played for Pakistan since 2017 and 2010 respectively, have been excelling on the domestic circuit and feel that they should be given a chance to make their presence felt on the international stage once again.

Despite Akmal and Butt opening up about their frustrations, Sarfraz called for them, and any other players in the same boat, to “not lose hope”.

“I don’t think it is right to point one or two individual for the non-selection of any player as the decision is taken collectively,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune. “We know that they’ve been performing really well in the domestic cricket as well as in the PSL, but they should not lose hope.

“We never decide which players’ career is over. There is a lot of cricket to be played in the next few months till the World Cup and whenever we feel like they can add value to the team, they will be called into the squad.”
