Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif feels that the national team will triumph in the upcoming Asia Cup as they have a lot of experience playing in the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan play all their home games in the United Arab Emirates, and will no doubt be among the favourites to win.
“As the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is home for Pakistan cricket for the last decade and the green caps are fully aware about the conditions, they have very bright chances of winning the [Asia] Cup,” Latif was quoted as saying by The Nation.
While India will pose a threat to Pakistan’s hopes of winning the tournament, Latif pointed out that the Indian side won’t be as strong since they opted to rest captain Virat Kohli.
Despite this, Latif said that it would be a grave mistake for Pakistan to underestimate their rivals.
“India is much weaker in the absence of Virat Kohli, but the green caps have to be very professional in their approach and shouldn’t take them easy,” he said.
