Sohail Tanvir struck a game-winning 20-ball 37 and took a wicket as the Guyana Amazon Warriors beat the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by four wickets.

Being put in to bat first, the Patriots got off to an excellent start as captain Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis amassed a 71-run partnership before Gayle was dismissed by Keemo Paul for a 27-ball 40, which included four boundaries and three sixes.

Lewis ended up making 28 before he was removed by Imran Tahir, who also took out Brandon King and Devon Thomas.

Tom Cooper and Mahmudullah fell shortly after, but thanks to Anton Devcich’s 24-ball 35 and Ben Cutting’s unbeaten 19 off nine balls, the Patriots finished on 168/7.

Tahir was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Paul, Tanvir and Roshon Primus chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 169 to win, the Amazon Warriors got off to a quick start before opener Chadwick Walton was given out lbw off the bowling of Sheldon Cottrell for eight runs.

Luke Ronchi, who opened the batting with Walton, struck a 16-ball 28 before he was caught by Cooper off the bowling of Cutting.

Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Mohammed steadied things with a 46-run partnership before Hetmyer was clean bowled by Carlos Brathwaite for 15.

Cameron Delport followed soon after, while Mohammed went on to score 36 before he became Cutting’s second victim.

Despite Primus falling for 11, Tanvir kept a cool composure and led the Amazon Warriors to victory with one ball to spare courtesy of his unbeaten 37, which came off 20 balls and included two boundaries and three sixes.

Cutting and Brathwaite took two wickets apiece, while Cottrell and Mahmudullah claimed one wicket each.

Tanvir was named Man of the Match.
