St Lucia Stars captain Kieron Pollard led by example as he hammered an unbeaten 41 off 18 balls to lead his side to a six-wicket win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Being put in to bat first, the Amazon Warriors got off to a quick start before opener Luke Ronchi was caught by David Warner at long-on off the bowling of Mitchell McClenaghan for a nine-ball 24.

Chadwick Walton, who opened the batting with Ronchi, was clean bowled by Rahkeem Cornwall for 12.

Shimron Hetmyer and Amazon Warriors captain Shoaib Malik fell shortly after, while Cameron Delport scored 25 before being dismissed by Kesrick Williams.

With Sherfane Rutherford, Sohail Tanvir and Rayad Emrit scoring 15, 19 and 17 respectively, the Amazon Warriors finished on 140/9.

Williams and Obed McCoy picked up two wickets apiece, while McClenaghan, Cornwall and Qais Ahmad chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 141 to win, the Stars made a disappointing start to their innings as opener Lendl Simmons was cleaned up by Veerasammy Permaul for 15.

Cornwall suffered the same fate two balls later, but Warner and Andre Fletcher steadied things with a 52-run partnership before Warner was caught behind off the bowling of Imran Tahir for 23.

Qais fell shortly after, but Fletcher and Pollard finished things off with an unbeaten 44-run partnership.

Fletcher ended up making 45 off 46 balls, which included two boundaries and a six, while Pollard remained undefeated on 41, which came off 18 deliveries and included four boundaries and three sixes.

Permaul was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Tahir and Devendra Bishoo claimed one wicket each.

Pollard was named Man of the Match.
