India pace bowler Ishant Sharma has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for giving England batsman Dawid Malan a send-off after dismissing him during the first Test at Edgbaston.
After Malan was caught at gully, Ishant began celebrating, but he subsequently turned to Malan and yelled.
As a result of his actions, Ishant, who was also handed a demerit point, was charged with breaching Article 2.1.7 of ICC’s code of conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an international match”.
Since Ishant admitted to the offence and sanctions imposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, there will be no need for a formal hearing.
