West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has returned to the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh.

Russell has not played ODI cricket since November 2015. That particular match against Sri Lanka in Colombo is the only ODI he has played since the 2015 World Cup.

“Great to have Dre Russ back as well. His explosive power and energy will breathe life into an already motivated squad,” West Indies head coach Stuart Law said in a Cricket West Indies release.

Meanwhile, pace bowler Alzarri Joseph and batsman Kieran Powell have also been recalled to the squad.

However, there was no place in the side for Marlon Samuels, Carlos Brathwaite, Nikita Miller, Sheldon Cottrell and Kesrick Williams, who all featured in the World Cup Qualifiers, where the West Indies secured a spot in next year’s World Cup.

The three-match ODI series between the West Indies and Bangladesh will get underway on July 22 in Guyana.
