Pakistan opener Azhar Ali has admitted that he has been highly impressed with opening partner Imam-ul-Haq.
Imam scored a century on his ODI debut and also struck a game-winning 74 not out in his side’s historic Test match against Ireland in May.
However, in the two-Test series against England that followed, the 22-year-old struggled as he mustered 56 runs at an average of 18.66.
Despite this, Azhar is confident that Imam will have a lot of success going forward.
“He is one of the most hard-working players I have ever seen, and I am really impressed by the way he has steadily improved himself and raised the level of his game to a point that he has now been selected for the Pakistan side in two formats,” he told PakPassion. “He had been very good in One-Day cricket but for the last year or so, he has also been playing very good cricket in the longer format of the game. I hope that he will continue to work as hard as he is doing now and become an important member of the Pakistan team.”
