Pace bowler Hasan Ali and spinner Shadab Khan believe that the family-like atmosphere in the team helped Pakistan demolish England by nine wickets in the first Test at Lord’s.

Hasan played an instrumental role with the ball as he took four wickets, all of which came in the first innings.

As for Shadab, he claimed two wickets, which came in the second innings, and scored a fantastic 52 in the first innings.

“At the moment, the environment of our team is such that if Shadab Khan performs I get happy, and if Babar Azam plays well, both Shadab and I are happy and vice versa,” Hasan told former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja in an interview as quoted by the Business Recorder. “The credit for this goes to our management and captain Sarfraz Ahmed for his ability to lead us as a family unit and keeping us gelled together. Whoever performs, the entire team celebrates it.”

Shadab echoed Hasan’s sentiments, and added that the team have a good bond both on and off the field.

“Our team is just like a family. During the tour, we stick with each other off the field as well, eating out together and other stuff, which is beneficial for the team.”

With Pakistan having dominated in the first Test, they will look to complete a 2-0 series whitewash in the second Test at Headingley, which begins on Friday.
