Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has been fined 60 percent of his match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate in the first Test against England at Lord’s.

Match referee Jeff Crowe established that Pakistan were three overs short of their target after time allowances had been taken into consideration.

According to Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, players are fined 10 percent for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, while the captain of the team is fined double the amount.

As a result, the rest of the Pakistan players were docked 30 percent of their match fees.

Since Sarfraz pleaded guilty to the over-rate offence, there will be no need for a formal hearing.

However, should another over-rate offence occur while he is captain in the next 12 months, he will be suspended.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker, third umpire Bruce Oxenford and fourth umpire Rob Bailey.

Pakistan won the first Test by nine wickets and will be looking to complete a 2-0 series whitewash in the second Test at Headingley, which begins on June 1.
