Iconic Pakistan all-rounder Imran Khan had heaped praise on the national team after their comprehensive nine-wicket win over England in the first Test at Lord’s.

Imran, who led Pakistan to World Cup glory in 1992, admitted that he was highly impressed at how Sarfraz Ahmed’s side tormented and punished England throughout the match.

He also lauded the side for silencing all the critics who thought they would struggle against England and fail to adapt to the conditions.

“Congratulations to the Pakistan cricket team for a great win against England at Lord’s. This was a team hardly any expert gave a chance of beating England and that too so comprehensively,” Imran said on his Twitter account. “A great team effort. Last time I landed in Karachi, Pakistan won Champions Trophy and today the Lord’s Test!”

With Pakistan 1-0 up in the series, they will now look to complete a 2-0 whitewash in the second Test at Headingley, which begins on June 1.
