Former Pakistan batsman Ijaz Ahmed believes that batsman Umar Akmal and opener Ahmed Shehzad have not been treated in the right way.
Disciplinary action has been taken against both players on numerous occasions, and Akmal has even levelled some serious allegations against current head coach Mickey Arthur and former head coach Waqar Younis.
However, Ijaz feels that if both players were handled in a different manner, “there would not be so many problems”.
“Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal are not being handled in the correct way,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “If they could be controlled properly, then there would not be so many problems.
“Every player has a different psyche and they need to be handle according to that. Some players listen to soft treatment, others need a stick to get them to do well.”
Akmal has not represented Pakistan since January 2017, while Shehzad last played international cricket in January 2018.
