The Delhi Daredevils have signed South Africa seamer Junior Dala as a replacement for his compatriot Chris Morris, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a back injury.
Morris was the only international player the Daredevils retained prior to the IPL auction in January, but the franchise had to fork out INR 7.1 crores in order to do so.
Dala, meanwhile, went unsold at the auction, despite having a base price of just INR 20 lakh. However, he will now be paid that amount and get to play in the IPL for the first time in his career.
The 28-year-old made his international debut in the Twenty20 series against India in February and put on a show with the ball as he took seven wickets in three games at an average of 15.71.
