Gautam Gambhir is well aware of the fact that India and Pakistan don’t have a healthy relationship when it comes to cricket, but believes that India should take it a step further sever ties with Pakistan in all aspects.

The Indian opener added that people from Pakistan should be barred from performing in India unless relations between the two countries takes a turn for the better.

“Merely boycotting cricketing ties with Pakistan will not help,” he told ANI as quoted by India Today. “If a ban is imposed, it should be in all sectors, be it films, music or any other. Nobody from Pakistan should be provided an opportunity to perform in India unless the relations between the two neighbours improve.”

In addition to this, the 36-year-old, who is currently playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL), called on the Indian government to implement stricter measures against Pakistan.

“In the recent past, we have initiated talks with Pakistan on many occasions, but no substantial outcome has been achieved,” he said. “Every country has its own level of patience and importance. First thing, of course, is to talk; but if that doesn’t work, one has to take strict action. There is no point in politicising the matter.”
