Shahid Afridi is without a doubt one of the most popular players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as fans flock to see him in action, but the former Pakistan captain has an idea on how to take the tournament to the next level.
While the PSL has seen its share of high-profile international players from Kevin Pietersen to Darren Sammy, Afridi, who has been playing for the Karachi Kings, feels the competition can skyrocket in popularity if Indian players join the action too.
Even though Afridi knows it will be difficult to convince Indian players to participate in the PSL, he feels that an offer should be extended to them to feature in the next edition of the tournament.
“I know it is difficult that they will come as they only play in the Indian Premier League. But we should invite them for the next edition of the PSL,” Afridi was quoted as saying by The Nation.
Meanwhile, Afridi also strongly believes that international players should only be allowed to play in the PSL if they agree to take part in the matches that are held in Pakistan.
“It is a very big step forward but I also believe that in future only those foreign players should be invited for the PSL who agree to also come and play in Pakistan when required,” he said.
