Australia left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc will represent the Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but will he be fit when the tournament begins next month?
Starc is currently representing Australia in their four-Test series against South Africa, but prior to the ongoing third Test in Cape Town, the 28-year-old was troubled by a calf issue.
While he managed to prove his fitness and was included in the playing XI for the third Test, there are concerns about whether the calf problem will impact his chances of playing in the IPL.
However, Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore has made it clear that there is nothing to worry about when it comes to Starc’s health.
“I think Starc’s report was not necessarily very accurate,” he was quoted as saying by CricTracker. “He is absolutely fine. It’s a bit unfortunate with the injuries. All the reports we are getting, they are making very good progress. Fingers crossed.”
Starc was bought by the Knight Riders for INR 9.4 crores at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in January.
