India opener Gautam Gambhir has faced some of the best bowlers in the history of the sport, but who does he think is the best left-arm seamer in the world right now?

Gambhir pointed out that while many people won’t hesitate to select Australia’s Mitchell Starc, he considers New Zealand’s Trent Boult to be the crème de la crème when it comes to left-arm quicks.

In April, Gambhir will be able to get a firsthand view of what Boult is capable of as they will both play for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

After captaining the Kolkata Knight Riders for seven years, Gambhir supposedly told the franchise not to bid for him at the IPL auction in January.

As a result, the Daredevils ended up buying him for INR 2.8 crores. The Daredevils also picked up Boult for INR 2.2 crores.

“I believe Boult is the best left-arm fast bowler in the world right now. People do talk a lot about Mitchell Starc as well, but Trent Boult on his given day can be as lethal as anyone else in the world. He can swing the ball at 135 km/h,” Gambhir, who will captain the Daredevils, was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

Gambhir, Boult and the rest of the Daredevils’ squad will kick off their IPL campaign against the Kings XI Punjab on April 8.
