Sri Lanka pace bowler Shehan Madushanka and all-rounder Asela Gunaratne will miss the upcoming Nidahas Trophy, a T20 tri-series that will also include India and Bangladesh, in March due to injuries.
Gunaratne was supposed to feature in the recently concluded two-match Twenty20 series against Bangladesh, but ended up playing no part in the series after hurting his shoulder during a fielding drill.
As for Madushanka, he sustained a left hamstring injury and had to be helped off the field midway through his third over in the second Twenty20 International in Sylhet.
Madushanka will undergo an MRI scan on Wednesday, but according to Cricbuzz, he will be out of action for a lengthy period of time.
Meanwhile, captain Angelo Mathews, wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Perera and seamers Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep will have to prove their fitness by Monday in order to be considered for selection.
The Nidahas Trophy will begin on March 6, with Sri Lanka taking on India in Colombo.
