Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews will be sidelined for the rest of the ongoing tour of Bangladesh as he hasn’t sufficiently recovered from a hamstring injury.
Mathews sustained the injury during the recent ODI tri-series, which involved Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
There were hopes that Mathews would be fit in time for the Test series, but due to his slow recovery, he will play no further part in the series. Following the second Test in Mirpur, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play two Twenty20 Internationals.
Sri Lanka are now waiting to see if Mathews will be fit in time for the Nidahas Trophy, which is a T20 tri-series that includes Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka will host the tournament, which will run from March 15 to 30.
