Bangladesh have added batsman Sabbir Rahman into their squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka, which begins on February 8 in Mipur.

Sabbir’s last Test match for South Africa came during their tour of South Africa in October last year.

Overall, the 26-year-old has scored 480 runs, which includes four half-centuries, in 10 Tests at an average of 26.66.

Meanwhile, captain Shakib al Hasan will miss the second Test as he has not recovered from a finger injury he sustained in the ODI tri-series final against Sri Lanka. As a result, Mahmudullah was keep hold of the captaincy.

Bangladesh have also decided to drop left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam and pace bowler Rubel Hossain for the fixture in Mirpur.

Rubel didn’t feature in the first Test in Chittagong, but Sunzamul was part of the playing XI. He failed to have much of an impact with the ball as he finished with figures of 1-153 after bowling 45 overs.

The first Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ended as a draw and both teams will be looking to triumph in the second Test in order to win the series.

Bangladesh’s squad for the second Test: Mahmudullah (capt), Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das (wk), Mushfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mosaddek Hossain, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Kamrul Islam, Mehidy Hassan, Nayeem Hasan, Tanbir Hayder, Abdur Razzak, Sabbir Rahman
