There will be a new champion crowned in the Big Bash League (BBL) as the Perth Scorchers, who triumphed last season, suffered a 71-run loss against the Hobart Hurricanes in their semi-final clash at Perth Stadium.
Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott starred with bat as they scored 71 and 67 not out respectively, while Dan Christian struck 37 runs and took four wickets as the Hurricanes advanced to the final on Sunday.
Being put in to bat first, the Hurricanes made a brisk start to their innings thanks to Wade. However, his opening partner, Tim Paine, only scored four runs before being caught by Mitchell Marsh off the bowling of Matthew Kelly.

Captain George Bailey only mustered 17 runs before he was caught by Mitchell Johnson at mid-off off the bowling of Tim Bresnan.
Wade and McDermott added 40 runs to the total before Wade was caught by Kelly at deep square leg off the bowling of Bresnan for 71, which came off 45 balls and included 10 boundaries and a six.
McDermott and Christian kept the runs flowing with an 88-run stand before Christian was run out for 37 on the penultimate ball of the innings.
McDermott went on to make 67 off 30 balls, which included four boundaries and six sixes, as the Hurricanes finished on 210/4.

Bresnan was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Kelly chipped in with one.
Chasing 211 to win, the Scorchers got off to a poor start as opener Michael Klinger was dismissed by Thomas Rogers for 15.
Cameron Bancroft only made one run, while Shaun Marsh struck an 18-ball 30 before he was also removed by Rogers.
Once Marsh was gone, the Scorchers completely collapsed as Christian scythed through their batting line-up.
Even though Bresnan hammered a 26-ball 43, it was nowhere near enough to get his side over the finish line.
Christian was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Rogers took three. As for Clive Rose and Riley Meredith, they claimed one wicket each.
Wade was named Man of the Match.
