Graeme Pollock: “He is ahead of the rest”

Legendary South Africa batsman Graeme Pollock has revealed that India captain Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world.

Pollock’s comments come after Kohli scored a brilliant 153 in the second Test against the Proteas in Centurion. However, his efforts went in vain as India lost the match by 135 runs, which allowed South Africa to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

However, while Pollock feels that Kohli is the best batsman right now, he admitted that South Africa’s AB de Villiers could trump the Indian skipper when it comes to ODI cricket.

“I would rate him as the number one Test batsman in the world, he is ahead of the rest,” Pollock told The Mirror as quoted by CricTracker. “He is very professional, very nice technique, a disciplined player.

“There may be one or two guys who can be rated as good in other formats. AB de Villiers comes close to him but he may be a little bit better in the One-day games.”

Meanwhile, with India having already lost their ongoing Test series against South Africa, they will be looking for a consolation win in the third Test in Johannesburg, which begins on January 24.
