Ashton Agar took two wickets during a highly economical spell, while Ashton Turner thumped a match-winning 50 as the Perth Scorchers downed the Hobart Hurricanes by five wickets.

As a result of their win, the Scorchers reclaimed their spot at the summit of the rankings, while the Hurricanes remain in third.

Being put in to bat first, Hurricanes opener Matthew Wade dominated the 41-run partnership he put together with D’Arcy Short.

However, just as Wade was beginning to put his foot on the gas, he was caught by Sam Whiteman, who was making his return from a serious finger injury, at short fine leg off the bowling of Joel Paris for a 17-ball 31.

Short only made 11 runs before he was caught by Agar at mid-on off the bowling of Matthew Kelly.

Ben McDermott and Dan Christian fell shortly after, but Hurricanes captain George Bailey and Simon Milenko stabilised the innings with a 70-run partnership before Bailey was cleaned up by Kelly for 37.

Milenko went on to score 66 off 37 balls, which included four boundaries and five sixes, as the Hurricanes finished on 167/5 off their 20 overs.

Agar and Kelly picked up two wickets apiece, while Paris chipped in with one.

Chasing 168 to win, the Scorchers were dealt a big blow on the fourth ball of their innings as Whiteman was caught by Short off the bowling of Thomas Rogers for one run.

Michael Klinger only made 17 runs before he was clean bowled by Jofra Archer, while Hilton Cartwright also scored 17 before being cleaned up by Christian.

Cameron Bancroft managed to score a 36-ball 54, which included five boundaries and two sixes, before he was caught behind off the bowling of Tymal Mills.

Despite Scorchers captain Adam Voges falling for 11, Turner and Agar finished things off with an unbeaten 41-run partnership.

Turner finished on 50 off 27 balls, which included four boundaries and two sixes, while Agar remained undefeated on 13 off 11 deliveries, which included a solitary boundary.

Rogers, Archer, Mills and Christian claimed one wicket each.
