Duanne Olivier has represented South Africa in five Tests

South Africa have added seamers Duanne Olivier and Lungi Ngidi to their squad for the second Test against India in Centurion.

Olivier and Ngidi were called up after pace bowler Dale Steyn was ruled out for the remainder of the series with a heel injury.

Olivier has featured in five Tests thus far, all of which came last year, while Ngidi has represented South Africa in three Twenty20 Internationals, but has yet to make his debut in the other two formats.

Both Olivier and Ngidi will have to compete with all-rounders Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo for Steyn’s spot in the squad.

But, should the Proteas opt to pick another specialist batsman in Temba Bavuma, then the quartet will be denied a place in the playing XI and will have to watch from the sidelines.

The second Test between South Africa and India gets underway on January 13.
