India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja could miss the first Test against South Africa after being diagnosed with a “viral illness”.
Jadeja has had the illness for the last two days and was even taken to hospital. However, it is understood that he could make a full recovery in two days’ time.
As a result, it is likely that the team management will have to decide on his participation on the morning of the first Test.
On a more positive note, opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan will be fit for the first Test as he has recovered from a minor ankle injury he sustained prior to India’s departure to South Africa.
The first Test between South Africa and India will begin on January 5 in Cape Town.
