Jack Wildermuth took a fantastic three-wicket haul to lead the Melbourne Renegades to a comfortable seven-wicket win over the Brisbane Heat.

Wildermuth was well supported by batsmen Tom Cooper and Cameron White, who scored 52 not out and 51 respectively.

Electing to bowl first, the Renegades made an early breakthrough as Cooper clean bowled Heat captain Brendon McCullum for five.

Sam Heazlett only made 11 before being caught by Renegades skipper Aaron Finch at extra cover off the bowling of Wildermuth.

Wildermuth then proceeded to take out Jimmy Peirson and Marnus Labuschagne for 12 and 20 respectively.

Ben Cutting and Alex Ross revived the Heat’s innings with a 41-run partnership before Brad Hogg struck twice in the same over, removing Cutting and Shadab Khan.

With Ross going on to make 48 off 44 balls, which included three boundaries and a six, the Heat finished on 132/8 off their 20 overs.

Wildermuth was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Hogg and Dwayne Bravo snapped up two wickets apiece. As for Cooper, he took one.

Chasing 133 to win, the Renegades lost Finch and Marcus Harris within the first five overs of their innings.

However, White and Cooper made up for it with an 89-run partnership, during which White brought up his fifty.

But, shortly after doing so, he was dismissed by Cutting for 51, which came off 43 balls and included four boundaries and two sixes.

Despite White’s dismissal, the Renegades went on to win the match with eight balls to spare thank to Cooper’s unbeaten 52, which came off 44 deliveries and included two boundaries and two sixes.

Shadab was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Cutting claimed one.

Wildermuth was named Man of the Match.
