Ben Duckett won’t feature in any of the England Lions’ remaining fixtures in Australia and has been fined by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after he allegedly poured a drink over pace bowler James Anderson’s head.
The incident occurred at a bar in Perth on Thursday night and following an investigation, the board decided to fine Duckett the maximum amount allowed for an England Lions player. The 23-year-old was also given a written warning about his conduct.
However, Duckett will remain in Australia with the rest of the England Lions squad and will head back to England with them on December 17.
As a result of the incident, Duckett was pulled from England’s squad for their tour match against a Cricket Australia XI on the weekend.
Speaking about Duckett’s actions, all-rounder Moeen Ali, who captained England in the match, said: “We all know the off-field behaviour needs to improve. We’re all grown men and should know how to behave.
“I think it’s really important we inspire the younger generation to take up the game. It could turn them away and that’s not what we want.”
