Jason Holder won’t play any part in the second Test against New Zealand

West Indies captain Jason Holder has been suspended for the second Test against New Zealand due to an over-rate offence in the first Test in Wellington.

Since the West Indies were found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate during the first Test, Holder was fined 60 percent of his match fee, while his teammates were docked 30 percent each.

Holder previously committed an over-rate offence in the first Test against Pakistan in April. Since a similar incident occurred in Wellington and came within a period of 12 months, it resulted in Holder being suspended.

The West Indies were found to be three overs short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration. For each over that isn’t bowled within the allotted time, each team member is docked 10 percent of their match fees, while the skipper’s fine is double that.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Ian Gould and Rod Tucker, third umpire Bruce Oxenford and reserve umpire Wayne Knights. Holder’s suspension was implemented by match referee Chris Broad.

The West Indies lost the first Test by an innings and 67 runs and will look to bounce back in the second Test, which gets underway on December 9 in Hamilton.
