Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will miss the remainder of the series against South Africa after aggravating a thigh injury.

Tamim, who will fly back home on October 22, first injured his left thigh muscle during the practice match that preceded the two-Test series. He then aggravated the injury during the first Test in Potchefstroom.

While he was sidelined for the second Test in Bloemfontein and the first ODI in Kimberley, he did play in the second ODI in Paarl despite not being fully fit.

In addition to missing the rest of the ongoing tour of South Africa, Tamim is also expected to be ruled out for the first two weeks of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which begins on November 4.

With Tamim out, chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed that batsman Mominul Haque will take his spot for the upcoming Twenty20 series, which starts on October 26 in Bloemfontein.
