India have added all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to their squad for the first three ODIs against Australia as a replacement for left-arm spinner Axar Patel.
Patel sprained his ankle while playing football during a training session ahead of the first ODI on Sunday, but it remains unclear how long he will be out of action for.
Jadeja was initially rested for the first three games, along with fellow spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ashwin is currently playing county cricket with Worcestershire in England, but Jadeja has not played any competitive cricket since the second Test against Sri Lanka last month.
Jadeja missed the third Test through suspension as he picked up his sixth demerit point within a 24-month period.
