Rashid Khan continued to impress in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as he took two wickets during an economical four overs to lead the Guyana Amazon Warriors to a seven-wicket win over the struggling St Lucia Stars.

The Amazon Warriors are still in contention for a spot in the knockout stage of the tournament, while the Stars are all but out as they remain winless after eight games.

Opting to bowl first, the Amazon Warriors got a breakthrough on the 11th ball of the match as Stars opener Andre Fletcher was caught by Rashid at long-off off the bowling of Veerasammy Permaul for one run.

Stars skipper Shane Watson was run out by Keemo Paul for a golden duck, while Johnson Charles was sent packing by Rayad Emrit for 15.

Things continued to go downhill for the Stars as Jesse Ryder was run out by Paul for 29, while Darren Sammy and Rahkeem Cornwall were both removed by Rashid.

Shane Shillingford fell shortly after, but an unbeaten 15 from Sunil Ambris saw the Stars finish on 100/8 off their 20 overs.

Rashid and Emrit picked up two wickets apiece, while Permaul chipped in with one.

Chasing 101 to win, the Amazon Warriors got off to the worst possible start as opener Chadwick Walton was trapped lbw off the bowling of Jerome Taylor on the first ball of the innings.

Captain Martin Guptill failed to have an impact with the bat as he was stumped by Fletcher off the bowling of Cornwall for eight runs.

Sohail Tanvir and Jason Mohammed stabilised the innings with a 51-run partnership before Tanvir was stumped by Fletcher off the bowling of Shillingford for 38.

Despite losing Tanvir, Mohammed helped the Amazon Warriors reach their target with 32 balls to spare thanks to his unbeaten knock of 42, which came off 35 balls and included three boundaries and two sixes.

Taylor, Cornwall and Shillingford claimed one wicket each.
