Veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been dropped for India’s upcoming five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Yuvraj represented India at the Champions Trophy and their recent limited overs tour of the West Indies, but while he averaged 35 during the tournament in England, he only mustered 57 runs at an average of 19 in the three-match ODI series in the Caribbean.

However, Yuvraj was not the only player to be omitted from the squad as wicketkeepers Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant suffered the same fate.

It has also been confirmed that the Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav will be rested for the ODI series.

As a result, Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal were all drafted into the squad.

The ODI series between Sri Lanka and India gets underway on August 20 in Dambulla.

India’s ODI Squad: Virat Kohli (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (vice-capt), KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur.
