Colin Munro hammered an unbeaten 70 to lead the Trinbago Knight Riders to a seven-wicket win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Being put in to bat first, the Amazon Warriors made a rapid start to their innings as they scored 40 runs off their first three overs.
However, once Shadab Khan got rid of captain Martin Guptill for 24, Sunil Narine and Kevon Cooper joined the party as they removed Babar Azam and Chadwick Walton for two and 36 runs respectively.
Jason Mohammed could only make 13 before he was dismissed by Shadab, while Gajanand Singh was taken out by Narine for just seven runs.
Roshon Primus came to the Amazon Warriors’ rescue with his knock of 23 before Shadab sent him and Sohail Tanvir packing in successive deliveries.
With Keemo Paul and Rayad Emrit making 14 and 11 respectively, the Amazon Warriors ended up finishing on 156/7 off their 20 overs.
Shadab was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Narine snapped up two and Cooper chipped in with one.
Chasing 157 to win, the Knight Riders got off to the worst possible start as opener Brendon McCullum was dismissed by Tanvir on the first ball of the innings.
However, Narine and Colin Munro made up for the loss of McCullum with a 79-run partnership before Narine was caught by Mohammed at deep midwicket off the bowling of Steven Jacobs for 23.
Even though Darren Bravo only scored 17, Munro and wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin finished things off with an unbeaten 56-run partnership.
Munro ended the game on 70 off 47 balls, which included five boundaries and five sixes, while Ramdin remained undefeated on 42 off 23 deliveries, which included three boundaries and three sixes.
Tanvir, Jacobs and Primus claimed one wicket each.
