Left-arm seamer Reece Topley, who plays for England and Hampshire, faces a lengthy layoff after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back.
This is the fourth time the 23-year-old has sustained the injury and he will undergo a further assessment to determine how long he will be out of action for.
Topley suffered two stress fractures in his back during his time with Essex before succumbing to another one when representing Hampshire last season.
Topley also broke his hand in his first appearance for Hampshire in 2016, while in January this year, he suffered a shoulder injury, which he underwent surgery for.
Topley has represented England in 10 ODIs and six Twenty20 Internationals to date, but he last played international cricket at the 2016 World Twenty20.
