Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Perera will play no further part in the Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury.

Kusal sustained the injury while batting during his side’s Champions Trophy victory over India on Thursday.

The 26-year-old tried to play through the pain while batting, but was ultimately forced to retire hurt on 47 off 44 balls, which included five boundaries.

With Kusal out of action, Sri Lanka were given permission by the ICC’s Event Technical Committee to call up all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva as his replacement.

De Silva last represented Sri Lanka in an ODI during the national team’s tour of South Africa in February.

Sri Lanka’s next Champions Trophy game will be a must-win clash against Pakistan on Monday.
