The Rising Pune Supergiants still have to wait to confirm their spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs after Karun Nair smashed a brilliant 64 to lead the Delhi Daredevils to a seven-run win.

Opting to bat first, the Daredevils lost Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer early on, but Nair and Rishabh Pant made up for it with a 74-run partnership.

Pant ended up being dismissed by Adam Zampa for 36 and the Daredevils continued losing wickets at regular intervals from that point on.

However, thanks to Nair’s knock of 64, which came off 45 balls and included nine boundaries, the Daredevils finished on 168/8 off their 20 overs.

Jaydev Unadkat and Ben Stokes picked up two wickets apiece, while Zampa, Dan Christian and Washington Sundar chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 169 to win, the Supergiants got off to the worst possible start as opener Ajinkya Rahane was clean bowled by Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan off the first ball of the innings.

Rahul Tripathi only managed to make seven runs before he was caught behind off the bowling of Zaheer.

Supergiants skipper Steve Smith scored an encouraging 38 before his time at he crease came to an end when he was trapped lbw off the bowling of Shahbaz Nadeem.

Stokes and Manoj Tiwary stabilised the innings with a 51-run partnership before Stokes was removed by Mohammed Shami for 33.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Christian were on their way back to the pavilion shortly after, while Tiwary fell on the final ball of the match as he was clean bowled by Cummins for 60, which came off 45 balls and included five boundaries and three sixes.
