Left-arm seamer Mitchell McClenaghan speared through the Delhi Daredevils’ batting line-up with a three-wicket haul to lead the Mumbai Indians to a 14-run win.

Electing to bowl first, the Daredevils got rid of Indians opener Parthiv Patel early on as he was clean bowled by Kagiso Rabada for eight runs.

Jos Buttler was looking threatening, but his innings was brought to an end when he was run out by Sanju Samson for 28.

The Indians continued to lose wickets after Buttler’s departure and soon found themselves in trouble at 84/5 in the 13th over.

However, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya came to the rescue as they scored 26 and 24 respectively to help the Indians finish on 142/8 off their 20 overs.

Pat Cummins and Amit Mishra picked up two wickets apiece, while Rabada chipped in with one.

Chasing 143 to win, the Daredevils struggled right from the get-go as McClenaghan ripped through their top and middle order like a knife through butter.

With McClenaghan receiving support from Hardik and Jasprit Bumrah, the Daredevils found themselves in dire straits at 24/6 in the seventh over.

But, just as it all seemed over for the Daredevils, Rabada and his South African compatriot Chris Morris put up a brilliant fight as they amassed a 91-run partnership.

With the Daredevils inching their way to, what would have been, an astounding come-from-behind win, Bumrah ensured that didn’t happen as he clean bowled Rabada for 44.

Even though Morris proceeded to finish unbeaten on 52 off 41 balls, which included five boundaries and a six, the Daredevils fell short of their target.
