Uncapped all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been called up to Bangladesh’s Twenty20 squad for the upcoming two-match series against Sri Lanka.
Saifuddin, 20, came on the selectors’ radar after last year’s Under-19 World Cup and also had a decent showing at the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he picked up nine wickets at an average of 26.55.
Saifuddin is also a handy batsman as in 23 first-class matches, he has scored six half-centuries.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Sunzamul Islam, both of whom have yet to make their Twenty20 International debut, are also in the squad.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is also back after missing the Twenty20 series against New Zealand in January with a hamstring injury.
However, there was no place in the side for pace bowler Rubel Hossain, off-spinner Shuvagata Hom and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.
Bangladesh T20 Squad: Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Subashis Roy, Sunzamul Islam, Nurul Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin.
