India captain Virat Kohli has pointed out that his comments about no longer being friends with the Australian team have been “blown way out of proportion”.
After the fourth and final Test in Dharamsala, Kohli said that he wouldn’t be friends with the Australian players “ever again”.
However, just two days later, he clarified his remarks, saying that they only applied to a “couple of individuals”.
Nonetheless, it was a stark contrast to what he had said prior to the start of the four-Test series.
“I’m really good friends with all these guys off the field,” Kohli had said. “I know them really well, but I know where to draw the line of friendship. When you step onto the field, I could be playing against my big brother it wouldn’t matter.”
